Lost in Novel-Land
Motivational pep talk, anyone?

A whole month is past us in the new year. Yes, 2010 has officially began now. There’s no turning back.

Thirty one days are done and gone. Maybe you’ve kept your resolutions, maybe you slipped up and are trying again, or maybe you’ve given up on them completely.

Well I’m here to tell you that if you really want to achieve your goals, don’t give up. Just don’t.

Whether it’s to get in shape, follow that diet, write a certain number of words, pages, learn a new language, be more honest, trustworthy, etc: Start over fresh.

February is now here. And for me, especially, that means a fresh start.

Some people, like I used to be, don’t know how to start over and be successful but have good intentions.

All I can say is this: plan. Take a day or two to think about what you’d like to see changed or done. Write it out on paper. The physical act of writing involves more parts of your brain than merely thinking about it.

After you’ve written it, figure out HOW to go about achieving it.

For example, my goal is still write 1,000,000 words this year. I know I need to write twice the minimum word count each day until I make it up.

Another example: I want to improve my English vocabulary, so each day, I learn a new word.

When you figure out a plan and are able to visually see it, you’re more likely to follow it.

So get out there, make your plans, and let February be the month of change.

:)
